WinterFest Columbus Is Teaming Up With COSI This Year

Posted

WinterFest is back, Columbus. This year it’s teaming up with COSI.

WinterFest Columbus is Saturday, November 21st from noon to 4 p.m. at Dorrian Green, the park out front of COSI. That’s a new date and a new spot for the festival. The Columbus Recreation and Parks Department puts it on, and it’s free. This is the ninth year.

This year Rec and Parks is pairing the festival with COSI’s Season of Celebrations, the museum’s holiday season, which starts the same day.

The day starts with COSI’s tree lighting

COSI’s tree lighting ceremony is at 11 a.m., an hour before WinterFest opens. Anyone can walk into COSI’s atrium for free that day, but the rest of COSI needs a general admission ticket. Vendors will be set up in the atrium, with food and seasonal drinks on hand. Once the tree is lit, everyone heads out front to Dorrian Green.

Live music all afternoon

Silvis, a three-piece indie rock band, opens at noon. Apricot House plays at 1:30 p.m. with indie rock that borrows from Japanese city pop. EMILÍ, a Columbus act whose sound mixes modern funk and disco with pop, closes the day at 3 p.m.

Food trucks and drinks

Dirty Frank’s Hot Dog Palace is bringing its food truck with the Franksgiving dog, a preview of Thanksgiving dinner in hot dog form. Pizza Cottage will have its regular food truck menu and a cranberry apple dessert pizza. WinterFest itself is free, but you’ll pay for the seasonal craft beers and cocktails.

Things to do between sets

There are yard games out on the lawn, cornhole and giant Pong among them, along with a gingerbread playland and a mechanical reindeer. There’s ax throwing too, plus the Dorrian Green playground. Bring the Farm to You is bringing farm animals to pet. Firepits and patio heaters will be going, with Adirondack chairs set out for anyone who wants to sit by one.

WinterFest first ran in 2017. The full lineup and food truck list are on the Scioto Mile’s WinterFest page.
